How it works

  1. Open your PDFDrop it in to see exactly what metadata it carries.
  2. Review & removeClear the Info fields and any XMP block with one click.
  3. Verify & downloadWe re-open the result to confirm the fields are gone, then you download it.

Why it matters

A PDF quietly records who made it and with what — your name, your software, and precise timestamps — even when the visible content gives nothing away. Before sending a document to a client, a court, or the public, clearing that metadata removes a trail you probably didn’t mean to share. RedactLocal does it on your device, copying the document intact so text, images and layout are preserved, and then verifies the exported file so you’re not taking our word for it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The metadata is read and removed locally in your browser; the file is never sent to RedactLocal.

What exactly gets removed?

The Info dictionary — title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, and the creation and modification dates — plus the XMP metadata block when present. The visible document is left unchanged.

Does it change how the PDF looks?

No. Only metadata is cleared. Pages, text, images, vectors, page sizes and order are untouched — nothing is rasterized, so text stays selectable.

Is there anything it can’t remove?

Metadata embedded deep inside page content (for example text written into the document body, or data inside embedded images) isn’t “document metadata” and isn’t touched here. For visible content, use the PDF Redactor; for image metadata, use the image metadata remover.
