How to Reorder, Rotate and Remove Pages From a PDF

Scanned pages out of order, one sideways, a blank sheet in the middle — a PDF often needs a quick tidy before you send it. Here's how to reorder, rotate and delete pages in your browser, without uploading the file.

PDF pages being reordered, rotated and removed inside the browser

Open RedactLocal's Organize PDF tool, drop your file in, and you'll see every page as a thumbnail. Drag to reorder, rotate the ones that need it, remove any you don't want, then export. It all happens in your browser — the file is never uploaded.

Reorder pages

Drag a page to a new spot and the rest shift to make room. This is the fix for scans that came in backwards or out of sequence, an appendix that should sit at the end, or a cover page that needs to move to the front. Get the order right here and the exported file reads correctly from page one.

Rotate pages

Scanners and phone cameras often capture a page sideways or upside down. Rotate just the affected pages in 90-degree steps so everything sits upright, without touching the pages that are already correct. The rotation is saved into the exported file, so it opens the right way up everywhere.

Delete pages

Remove the pages that shouldn't be there: a blank sheet from the scanner, a duplicate, a separator page, or a section that isn't meant for the recipient. Dropping them keeps the document clean and avoids sending more than you intended.

Tidying up scanned documents

Scanning is where all three tools tend to be needed at once. A batch of paper often comes out with a page or two rotated, the odd blank sheet, and the order slightly off. In one pass you can straighten the sideways pages, delete the blanks, and drag everything into sequence — turning a rough scan into a document that's ready to send. Removing blank and duplicate sheets also trims the file; if the scan is still large afterward, Compress PDF can shrink it further.

The quality stays the same

Organizing only changes the order, rotation and selection of pages — never their content. The pages are copied as-is, so text stays selectable, vectors and fonts stay sharp, and nothing is re-rendered or compressed. A tidied document looks exactly like the original, just in better shape.

Removing a page takes the whole page out, but it doesn't change what's on the pages you keep. If a page you're keeping has something sensitive on it, black it out with the PDF Redactor. To pull pages into a separate file instead of rearranging them, use Split PDF; to join several files together, use Merge PDF.

Done in your browser

Many "organize PDF" sites upload your document to a server to rearrange it. For a contract, a scan or a statement, that means sending the whole file — including any pages you were about to delete — to someone else's computer. RedactLocal does the work on your device: the PDF is read into the page, edited locally, and the result downloads straight to you. Nothing is uploaded, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded when I organize it?

No. Reordering, rotating and deleting all happen inside your browser. The file isn't sent to RedactLocal or anywhere else.

Can I rotate just one page?

Yes. Rotate only the pages that need it, in 90-degree steps, and leave the rest as they are.

Does deleting a page change the other pages?

No. It removes the whole page you selected; the remaining pages are untouched.

Will organizing reduce the quality?

No. Pages are copied as-is, so text stays selectable and the pages look exactly as they did in the original.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The thumbnail grid supports touch, so you can reorder, rotate and remove pages on a phone or tablet as well as a desktop.

This guide is for general reference. Before sharing a reorganized PDF, open the exported file and check the page order, rotation and that only the pages you intended remain.
