How it works
- Add your .xlsxDrop it in or choose a file. It opens in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
- Choose sheets & layoutPick worksheets, paper size, orientation, scaling and margins.
- Download the PDFEach selected sheet is rendered as a readable table.
What it preserves — and what it doesn’t
The converter reads the values as Excel stored them — including dates, currencies and percentages — and lays them out with column widths, merged cells, bold text and alignment. Formulas are never run; their stored results are used, exactly as the workbook was last saved. A sheet that’s wider than the page is scaled down to fit so no columns are silently cut off.
Standard spreadsheets convert well. Charts, pivot tables, macros, conditional formatting, embedded objects, advanced print settings and custom fonts are not reproduced, and some uncommon number formats or non-Latin fonts may display differently. It’s a faithful printout of the data, not a pixel-perfect copy of Excel.
Frequently asked questions
Is my workbook uploaded?
No. The spreadsheet is read and rendered to PDF locally in your browser. It’s never sent to RedactLocal, and the tool works with your network off.
Are formulas recalculated?
No. Formulas are never executed. The tool uses the values stored in the workbook, so results appear as Excel last saved them.
Does it support .xls?
No — only the modern .xlsx format. Open a legacy .xls in Excel and save it as .xlsx first.
