How it works

- Choose outputPick JPG, PNG or WebP, set quality, and a background for transparent images.
- DownloadOne image downloads directly; several come back together in a ZIP.
Picking the right format
JPG is best for photographs and the smallest files, but has no transparency. PNG is lossless with transparency — ideal for logos, screenshots and line art. WebP usually beats both on size at the same quality and supports transparency, though a few older apps don’t read it. RedactLocal converts between all three on your device, so your images never leave the browser.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser; nothing is sent to RedactLocal.
Will my images be stretched?
Never. Each image keeps its exact proportions and orientation; only the file format (and quality, if you set it) changes.
Converting to JPG — what about transparency?
JPG can’t store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose (white by default). Choose PNG or WebP output to keep transparency.
